Our firm was pleased to participate in the BVI Finance 2026 LatAm Roadshow – The BVI Advantage: Global Solutions for Latin America, a regional initiative that brought together leading legal, financial and private wealth professionals to discuss the evolving needs of international clients and the role of the British Virgin Islands (BVI) as a premier international financial centre.

The roadshow provided an excellent platform to exchange perspectives on cross-border wealth planning, international corporate structures, regulatory developments and the growing opportunities arising from the convergence of global finance, innovation and digital assets.

Bogotá: Supporting the Evolving Needs of Latin American Clients

The Bogotá session, held on July 15^th, focused on how BVI structures continue to provide effective solutions for Colombian and Latin American families, businesses and investors navigating an increasingly sophisticated international landscape.

Our firm was represented by Partner, Jaime Sánchez and Juan Esteban Arellano, Director for Colombia, who joined fellow professionals in discussions surrounding international structuring, trusts, private trust companies and the importance of aligning wealth planning strategies with evolving legal and regulatory requirements.

Panama City: Advancing International Planning and Regulatory Dialogue

The final stop of the roadshow took place in Panama City on the 16^th of July, where industry leaders examined the key issues shaping cross-border planning across Latin America.

Representing our firm were: our Associate: Odalys Prado, Inter-Office Manager: Jorge Luis Yu; Corporate Officer: José Ramón García de Paredes, and our Regulatory Division Supervisor, Raquel Cabal.

The programme explored practical structuring solutions for Latin American clients, developments in the digital assets sector, and the continued importance of trusts, private trust companies and internationally recognised structures for wealth preservation, succession planning and regulatory compliance. Participants also received valuable updates on recent regulatory improvements and service efficiencies within the BVI.

The discussions reinforced a message that has remained consistent for decades: the British Virgin Islands continues to offer a sophisticated, stable and internationally respected framework for wealth planning and cross-border business.

Continuing the Conversation at Our Offices

Following the Panama conference, we had the pleasure of welcoming Hon. Lorna Smith, Minister of Financial Services of the British Virgin Islands, and Mrs. Elise Donovan, Chief Executive Officer of BVI Finance, to our offices on the 17^th of July for a breakfast meeting.

They were joined by our partners Jaime Sánchez, Oliver Muñoz and Randall Webster; associates Odalys Prado and Sara Montenegro; and Jorge Luis Yu, Inter-Office Manager.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to continue the dialogue initiated during the roadshow, exchange views on emerging trends in international financial services, and reaffirm the longstanding relationship between Panama and the British Virgin Islands.
