STEP Caribbean Conference 2023
STEP, The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, is a unique professional body providing members with a local, national and international learning and business network focusing on the responsible stewardship of assets today and across the generations. STEP provides education, training, representation and networking for its members.
During this month of May, the Caribbean Conference was held at the Hilton Panama, and it was focused on Intrapreneurship – driving change in an uncertain world, and gathered trust and estate planning professionals from the Caribbean and Central America.
The programme included topics such as Insolvent Trusts, Planning for the Modern Family, Dispelling myths and misperceptions about ESG, Psychology of Family Governance, Practicalities of Trustees Holding Digital Assets, Jurisdictional updates on USA, Canada, UK, Protecting your client’s reputation across borders: Offense vs Defence, Movement of Trust Structures, Economic Substance – Trusts in the Crosshairs?, De-risking: The History, Impact and Unintended Consequences to the Island Nations of the Caribbean, US implementation of UBO registration & tax update, “Video Killed the Radio Star” but did data privacy and protection kill corporate transparency?, as well as a STEP Global Update.
