On August 13, 2025, our partner, Oliver Muñoz, participated as a speaker in the session of the Trade and Investment Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Panama (AmCham), where he presented on the topic “Virtual Asset Service Providers: Challenges and Opportunities.”

During his presentation, he analyzed the international regulatory framework and compared the experiences of the European Union and the United States, with special emphasis on the guidelines of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). He also addressed the current situation in Panama, highlighting the importance of establishing a solid regulatory framework aligned with global standards ahead of the FATF evaluation in 2027.

Key points from the presentation included the need to:

• Create an attractive ecosystem for investment and the arrival of specialized talent in financial technology and virtual assets.
• Avoid rushed implementations that may generate unnecessary risks and costs.
• Leverage Panama’s strategic location and the strength of its financial system to consolidate its position as a regional hub for virtual asset services.
