  • Provide guidance to the work team, propose goals, and ensure they are accomplished.
  • Review and/or issue an opinion on internal projects and processes.
  • Review and/or issue an opinion on agreements, and other documents of a legal nature.
  • Be informed of the regulatory changes from the different jurisdictions, interpret, comment, and suggest course of action if necessary.
  • Plan, coordinate, control and direct the development of the department’s operations, ensuring the optimal use of resources.
  • Define administrative changes to ensure proper management of the organization.
  • Establish and supervise the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure internal controls.
  • Review and assist, as necessary, in the renewal of the organization’s operational licences.
  • Actively assist in compliance matters (regulatory, AML/CFT).
  • Assist in the financial and accounting operations of the organization, analyze the P&L of international offices.
  • Review the budget for each international office and ensure it is met.
  • Assist in the establishment of the objectives, goals, and priorities of the international offices and those responsible for achieving them.

Professional Trajectory

Prior to joining our professional team, Jorge Luis Yu was an Associate in Sterlington (New York, United States), where he was able to handle routine and administrative contract matters at different stages of negotiation for clients, including private equity and other funds, family offices, public and private companies, investment banks, high net worth individuals and start-ups.  He also served as Senior Manager for Morgan & Morgan's British Virgin Islands ensuring the execution of the operation both legally and administratively; as well as Executive Director of the Singapore Office and Legal Counsel of the Beijing Office, where he gained experience both in serving clients in the area of corporate law as well as liaising with the authorities to ensure compliance with the relevant regulations for the continuity of the operation in the relevant jurisdiction, including receiving the relevant authority during inspections; handling of executive matters such as budget planning, compliance, supervision of personnel; and direct and personalized attention to clients in corporate law matters both in Panama and offshore jurisdictions.
