A meeting for a Business Update: Quijano & Associates together with ManpowerGroup Panama
October 1, 2026Quijano & Associates was pleased to participate in “Strategic Brazil: Why European Families Are Looking at Latin America Again,” an international event held on September at the offices of Veirano Advogados in São Paulo, Brazil.
Our Managing Partner, Julio Quijano, participated as a panelist alongside distinguished professionals from Brazil, Switzerland, Luxembourg and other international jurisdictions, contributing his experience and perspective on cross-border wealth planning, international structuring and the growing relevance of Latin America for European families and business owners.
A Two-Way Conversation Between Europe and Latin America
Co-hosted by UMA Wealth and held in collaboration with Veirano Advogados, Müeller Law, Vontobel, BTG Pactual and Vells, the event brought together practitioners from five countries to examine the increasing movement of families, entrepreneurs and capital between Europe and Latin America.
The program approached this trend from two complementary perspectives:
- Brazilian families looking abroad: The morning session focused on families considering relocation and international planning opportunities outside Brazil.
- European families looking at Brazil: The afternoon session explored Brazil as a potential new home, investment destination, business opportunity or “Plan B” for European families and entrepreneurs.
Why Brazil Is Back on the Radar
During the afternoon panel, participants discussed some of the key factors driving renewed interest in Brazil and Latin America among European families and business owners.
Among the main topics discussed were:
- Changing European wealth migration trends, as an increasing number of families and entrepreneurs consider opportunities outside their home countries.
- Brazil’s business and investment potential, supported by a market of more than 200 million consumers and a long history of European business presence.
- Tax residency and pre-migration planning, particularly the importance of reviewing tax exposure before relocating to Brazil.
- Succession and corporate planning, including the need to coordinate family, ownership and business structures across jurisdictions.
- International diversification, as families increasingly consider residence, business interests, banking relationships and wealth structures across multiple countries.
Planning Before Moving
A key message emerging from the discussion was that, in cross-border wealth planning, the sequence of decisions can be just as important as the structure itself.
A fictional German family-owned business was used as a practical case study to demonstrate how different international planning tools may interact when a family considers relocating or expanding its interests into Brazil.
The case explored the potential role of:
- Holding companies with appropriate substance;
- International insurance and wealth planning solutions;
- Banking relationships on both sides of the Atlantic;
- Succession and estate planning; and
- Tax and corporate planning prior to a change of residence.
The discussion highlighted the importance of analyzing these elements as part of an integrated strategy, rather than addressing them individually after relocation.
