Forbes Central America Magazine: The Protagonists of Sustainability

The June’s edition of Forbes Central America Magazine focuses on the “Protagonists of Sustainability”, considering that Central America is experiencing a significant change in its energy landscape with the use of renewable energy.

Having had the honor and privilege of acting as Legal Advisors to Fideicomiso de Bonos Azules BDA in the first issuance of blue bonds in Panama has allowed us to understand the vital importance of having regulations to preserve our marine ecosystem.

Sovereign blue bonds are a financing mechanism for coastal and island countries to reinvest natural resources, ensuring funds for biodiversity conservation and better adaptation to climate change that benefits economies.

This is a very important milestone in the capital market of Panama and the region, since there were already issuers that have some type of green, social or sustainable issuances before, but until now the first blue bond has been issued and registered in the Central American and the Caribbean region.
