Continuous Improvement as a strategic pillar of any organization

Michael Jordan stated that Kobe Bryant called him several times in the middle of the night to ask about his opinion on a specific play, or to get some advice on a certain move.

Our living legend, Roberto “Manos de Piedra” Durán, was already the best pound-for-pound in the lightweight division when he met Ray Arcel, who helped him to become even better.

Both examples have several things in common: two extraordinary athletes, both worked very hard to achieve success, always looking to improve day by day.

It works the same way with organizations. We must all agree that only by way of continuous improvement, being aware that there will always be a better way of doing things, bearing in mind that there will always be obstacles, that are part of the process.

What would have happened with Durán if after his first defeat he felt sorry about himself

He got up, and he did so many times… That’s what made him great.

The determination we have to evolve to the next level as an organization is what will guarantee future success.  There is no added value if we concentrate in the past, or in discussions that seek to understand only causes and responsible parties. This is important, of course; but what really guarantees improvement will be to focus on finding the solution and making sure that there is a learning process from the mistake made, in order for it not to happen again.

The current global situation not only gave rise to the economic impact of the pandemic but also the geopolitical situation of the conflict in Eastern Europe, which is affecting the entire market; and the organizations that will come out on top will not necessarily be the largest, but the most efficient, the most prepared, the faster, the stronger.

Establishing clear strategic objectives sets the guidelines to put all efforts together.

These objectives must be challenging and achievable. Challenging, because they must represent an additional value, an effort that involves bringing out the best in everyone.  And achievable since it motivates the staff to work towards achieving them.

At Quijano & Associates, we are aware of this new scenario, and we are in constant evolution, with an ambitious strategic digitalization plan and in the continuous search for operational efficiency, to guarantee the best service to our clients with the best professional talent in our industry.
